Perfectionism will Drown You
Perfectionism acts like a heavy wave holding us under the surface.
Suffocating, dominating and intimidating.
We don’t get to choose when it passes, but there are ways we can make it easier to come up for air.
Perfectionism is a restraint, a constriction, meant to keep us down.
But, what we resist, persists.
It might show up as intrusive thoughts. Reminding us that there are others out there who are so much “further ahead” than we are.
Maybe it will show up as a persistent feeling of being stuck.
It might show up as lots of ideas but very little action.
Instead of trying to come to the surface with pressure in our chests kicking as hard as possible, we can try softening.
Rather than list making, joining the 5am club and timing how long tasks take, could you take heart centered action?
Could you sit in meditation without a timer telling you when you’re finished? Rather, just with yourself, trusting you’ll know when it’s time to stop?
Could you create a vision board with everything you might want in this lifetime? Even with NO IDEA of how it would be possible?
Could you trust that when it’s time, the pressure will lighten? It won’t always feel like your lungs are exploding.
Instead of GO, can you think, FLOW.
Soften in order to be guided by the changing tides of life towards that big vision. Trust the process even when you can’t see the path. Remember that seasons change…🌹
